  • About Me: I pastor a medium-sized Baptist congregation in a small town in eastern Ohio. I love what I do, and I love the Lord who called me to it. This blog is not necessarily about my faith or theology, although it surely colors everything I write. I hope, rather, to make comments on life, and to exhibit and encourage clear thinking about the same, tempered with a little humor.

Books

  • Favorite Books: The Bible. The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Purpose Driven Church.
  • Favorite Authors: I got hooked on Louis L'Amour's stuff for awhile. Mark Twain. I liked some of Harrold Robbins' stuff. Oh yeah - God!
  • Favorite Genres: Religious (of course), sci-fi, non-fiction, detective/mystery, science, the Sundy comics . . . you name it!
  • Favorite Characters: Gandalf in Lord of the Rings.
  • Favorite Quotes: "If God seems far away . . . guess who moved." - author unknown to me.
  • Recent Reads: Basic Economics, by Thomas Sowell.

  • Favorite Restaurants: Applebee's is pretty good. Don Pablo's is great for Mexican. Magic Wok has great egg rolls and spicy chicken (unfortunately, I don't live near one now).
  • Foods I hate: Mushrooms, raisins (it's a texture thing . . .), liver.

Style

  • Where I shop: Wal-Mart, mostly. I like to hang out at hardware stores and garden centers, too.
  • Brands I love: Chaps casual shirts are the greatest.
  • I like to wear: Khakis and Chaps. Or jeans and Chaps. Sneakers.
  • Can't live without: A Bible. My computers. A rocker-recliner. My PaperMate pen. Coffee.
  • Prized Possessions: My mini-van (it's about toast, now, though). My coffee roaster. My Ruger 10/22 carbine. My grandkids!
  • Guilty Pleasure: Watching "Monk" while sipping BeefaMato on the rocks.
